What is PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and when is it required for me or my workers to use it?
Personal protective equipment (PPE) refers to protective clothing, helmets, goggles, and any other garment or equipment designed to protect the workers body from injury by blunt impacts, electrical hazards, heat, chemicals, and infection, for job-related occupational safety and health purposes.
The use of personal protective equipment is to reduce employee exposure to hazards when engineering and administrative controls are not feasible or effective to reduce these risks to acceptable levels. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_protective_equipment)
Based on the information that ITU obtains about your electrical system, ITU can help you select the proper electrical PPE (personal protection equipment) for each of your electrical workers based on the tasks that each worker does on a normal bases. Knowing what PPE your workers need is the first step in incorporating an effective electrical safety program.
OSHA 29CFR 1910 requires that the employer obtain and supply each worker with the proper PPE. ITU will help you choose and obtain that PPE so you won’t be found negligent in your electrical safety program.
